Thomas Cook customers will have to wait another week before making a compensation claim

Thomas Cook customers have been dealt a further blow this week after the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced that there would be a delay with regards to starting the process to attain a refund.
 
The CAA had originally advised that the claims process would open yesterday (Monday 30th September) but this has been delayed until the 7th October which is when customers will be able to access the claim form and start their claims process.

This new system would provide "an electronic refund form", said the aviation regulator and added that they hoped to refund customers ‘within 60 days of receiving a valid refund form’. This means that even if a customer submits their form on the 7th October, they may not receive their refund until early December.

It is expected that the regulator needs to refund 360,000 ATOL-protected customers in total. This situation highlights the importance of booking with a trusted travel company that is both ABTA bonded and ATOL protected which provides you with the reassurance that your money is protected when a situation like this arises.
